Don't be fooled by the residential appearance of this Brooklyn brownstone because inside these walls, real learning takes place! The day I arrived for my tour, there were excited students surrounding their very dynamite Director, Ruth Arberman, as she handed out their finished pottery. There was no movie, no handouts, no glitz, but the interactions that I witnessed between the teachers and students said it all! Our daughter, who has dyslexia, learning disabilities and ADHD was helped tremendously by this school, which offers one to one teaching in Reading and Math as well as very small classes, all taught in a multi sensory method. I cried when I heard our daughter read her first book in just a short time! Her teachers are very committed in assessing just what stage she is at, meeting her there and moving her forward with many creative approaches. Ruth Arberman and her teaching staff are very dedicated to their students. Ruth attended all our IEP meetings and with her expertise and vast knowledge in Education, fought for what our daughter needed to succeed. There is outdoor exercise every day and the school trips are great! Strong ethics along with warmth abound!

My children have attended the school for 5 years now and we have been very happy with the school. One of my sons had difficulty at first being in a mixed age class. He has sensory issues, adjusting to older children, the fact that they bring the younger kids to their level as opposed to the other way around was overwhelming to my son. I thought the teachers did a spectacular job working with my son. They identified it early, met with us, and had constructive solutions for inside and outside the class. My son now thrives at the school socially and academically. My wife and I joke that it has been a while since we needed a pre-conference conference for our son. Academically he has never had problem with the work, and we have found him to be challenged and doing very well. All and all it has been a great experience and we look forward to many more years at the school.

I graduated from this school. After reading the reviews from all of these other people this school must have totally changed. Yes, Academically and as a person they expeced alot from us because they were preparing us to compete with other students that had greater resources then we had. And here we go with this thing about the teacher not caring about the students. Guess what when they get to college the professors won't hold their hand either.

I am Junior attending St. Joseph's. I have nothing but awesome things to say about it. But Most people who say negative things about a school are usually people who do not like schoolto begin with because if learning is what you love, St. Joseph is THE PLACE.First, I love all my teachers. They are all about encouraging you and helping you move forward to become the successful women of tomorrow.My principal is great, she is always around to help. She knows just about every face that walks into the building.She makes an effort to know you,in my case she knows me by first and lastname.The teachers and the entire faculty are completely devoted to create a safe environment where you can learn and find help if you need it. Yes, it's an all girls school and that was my biggest issue at first but now it's my biggest comfort. -MT

I disagree with the other parent. This has been a great school for my daughter. Through this school and their activities and challenging curriculum she has grown to be a hard-working, exceptional student. I wholly recommend this school.

My two children have had fantastic experiences in the pre-school, lower school, and middle school. The current head of the middle school, who arrived last year, is outstanding; the teachers are fabulous; and the curriculum is rigorous and exciting. (I'd love to learn about the rise of Islam in 6th grade!) It's a warm and welcoming community, and my kids still skip to school every day.

This school is a gem. I have been a parent of this school for 3 years and it is amazing how much the teacher's care. Ms. Jeanine, Ms. Kathy, Ms. Patty, Ms. Vicki, Ms. Jenna, Ms. Poulon, Father Lardis, Dr. Farkouh and all of the staff at A Fantis really help these children become the best they can be. The class sizes are small, which is extremely important. Public schools, even the most sought out schools, are no where near as good when it comes to core curriculum. The kids take weekly spelling tests and with really challenging words. I love this school and look forward to a long and happy journey through 8th grade

PS 261 has an engaged principal in Zip Mills, wonderful teachers and excellent parent involvement. All of these factors combine to make for a wonderful learning environment for my two daughters, who are second graders and have been at the school since kindergarten.

P.S. 287 has a bright future, based on the mission, goals and objective that all are focused on. Students are active participants in the educational process with the guidnace of family, friends, educators, and staff of P.S. 287. I am greatful for the energy, support, and focus of the staff. I am proud of the consisitent efforts of the educators. The persistent desire of the students and the insistent proactive contributions of the PTA board. My children are VERY happy at Packer. The administration, parents and students were very welcoming to our entire family. There is a wonderful balance between what has traditionally worked well and a progressive ideology that benefits the children in an ever-changing world.

I like Cobble Hill HS and so does my daughter. A per son will get out of the school what they put in. Students that fail to apply themselves will fail to achieve. The teachers are great, and the Principal is easy to talk to and return phone calls himself not through his secretary.

This is a life-changing institution, where your child will be truly seen, empowered, educated. It is a place of possibility and joy and kindness. I am a 8th grade student in this school. Well for me I think that it is a school in which I have trouble getting up to in the morning. I feel this way because when you first enter the school,they make you feel welcome but ince you leave your child to fend for themselves they do not what they are getting themselves into. Me personally i think this school is ok because I am a cheerleader,i use to go to specialized high school program,im in histrory honors,in honor roll, dancer for these shows and im in the student support team. I believe that the teachers I have are spectacular,Especially Mr.Skrilow because he will teach your child law and goverment like no other middle school or certain high schools. W have musica classes,art ,flag football, Cheerleading,and basketball,and we have alot of after school activities. I really enjoy attending this school.

Of all the schools that my daughter attended in the past 8 years this is the best by far. The teachers and staff of the Urban Assemble School for Law and Justice makes every effort to keep parents highly informed about the children's progress. The advisors pay strict attention to the students and report when necessary to parents. They work with each child to ensure that they get the help that they need. After my daughter's first sememter, I am happy to report that she is very excited about this school. Before she started this school she complained about every thing. Now she looks forward to attending school every day. She has already made the honor roll. Thums Up

It has only been 2 weeks so far but my daughter has expressed that she is enjoying her school much better than her prior school. The community is extremely supportive of the PTA. And the support allows the PTA to provide great services to the kids and parents. The teachers and staff that I have met so far are knowledgable, friendly but with the right amount of firmness. The principal is clearly involved in making the school even better during and after school-hours by organizing committees to tackle any problems. In addition during school hours she is easy to approach by the kids as she spends time in the lunchroom assisting the volunteers and staff. The school also is commited to provide healthy lunches by growing their own vegetables and bringing in a chef to create better balanced meals than the city provides. I have to say that so far I'm very impressed by school staff and the community coming together to help give our kids a better education.

My daughter goes to Freedom Acaademy High School for the past three years looking to Graduated. I like the small setting of the school. the Teachers are very grate they even give up ther lunch time to help the student. This is two years my daughter's on the Principal honor roll. I have to thanks the staff for a wonderful job well done with the student.
