My 10-y-o daughter is about to start her second year (5th grade) at Main Street School. The great thing about MSS is that it only houses 4th & 5th graders. At 9 and 10, it's helpful not to be in with kids who are already entering puberty. The principal, Raina Kor, is a lovely woman who seems to build relationships with every child (again, the benefit of having only 2 grades). She is easy to approach and takes a very practical approach to problem resolution. The teachers are above-average (like any school, there are some better than others) and class size of around 20 is manageable. The only thing I'd change about MSS is that the facilities are quite old and could use an update. Everything works, but it looks like the old building that it is. My daughter loves MSS and we're thrilled she is there.

I would like to commend Mrs. Kozak as a wonderful ELA teacher in the 6th grade, and now 7th grade. Her attention to detail in the analysis and grading of the student s writing activities is very thorough, thoughtful and stimulant, giving nice feedback, supportive suggestions and verbal pats in the back . Mr. Levine, the science teacher, 7th grade, also deserves special praise. He is the most enthusiastic teacher ever, has a very interesting webpage and handles the Tri-M musical activities outside of the school.

I originally gave this school an excellent review but now fast forward a couple of years and my opinion has drastically changed. I agree with the most recent posting of special interest groups wanting to just move in and takeover. If you didn't like the way the school was run, why did you move here in the first place? I was happy before but now I took my child out of the public school system and she is sooo happy! Most of the children turned so unfriendly and clicky at such a young age. My child was too nice for this school system. If you want your child to grow up entitled and obnoxious you would be happy here.
