TRINITY SCHOOL
139 W 91ST ST
[Details]
PRIVATE K - 12 HIGH 930 4
(Based on 17 reviews)

As a parent of a former student, I believe that Trinity offers the best academic curriculum in the City. It is a school of excellence and as such sets the highest standards for all involved, the students, teachers and the parents. The Lower School is simply amazing, being both nurturing and academically strong. The students are caring and dedicated to studying; at times, the school can become a bit too competitive. The community offers a wide array of sport choices, music, theatre, dance and art classes, and the teachers are both knowledgeable and experienced. My daughter was well prepared for college, which she perceives as being easier than Trinity. The Latin program is simply outstanding. Overall, Trinity is a unique community of outstanding and caring individuals.

DWIGHT SCHOOL
291 CENTRAL PARK W
[Details]
PRIVATE K - 12 HIGH 507 5
(Based on 8 reviews)

I'm concerned that some of the parent reviews may give the impression that Dwight is a school for troubled students, or those with learning issues. Well it is, but it's also equally balanced with students who are extremely academically bright. Inclusiveness and encouragement to be the best that each child can be are the hallmarks of this school. My daughters previously attended a top London private school (Latymer Upper) and I think that they are getting a superior education at Dwight. Make no mistake, if your child is up to it, then the IB program at diploma level is eye-wateringly academically rigorous. Languages are very strong here (any language can be learned) and sport/art/science/political science are all outstanding - all at undergraduate level for the ablest students. Dwight is a friendly, vibrant, community, with a multinational flavor (37 nationalities), where students are encouraged to become global citizens.

CALHOUN SCHOOL

[Details]
PRIVATE K - 12 HIGH 500 4
(Based on 23 reviews)

Calhoun is a wonderful school for younger kids. It is low key and the teachers are very nurturing. Some prospectvie parents complain that the classrooms seem chaotic, but my children are easily able to find their place in the class and are not distracted by others who may be pursuing other activities.

MS 243 CENTER SCHOOL
100 W 84TH ST
[Details]
PUBLIC 5 - 8 HIGH 215 4
(Based on 22 reviews)

We have sent all three of our children to Center School and they have received an outstanding education from a faculty that is creative and attends to the most important aspects of education, engagement and competence. All three of our children have been prepared and made it into the specialized high schools both science and the La Guardia. This small community really offers a private school education in a public school. The kids and adults make it a wonderfully loving community. You're lucky if you get the chance for your child to attend.

MS M245 THE COMPUTER SCHOOL
100 W 77TH ST
[Details]
PUBLIC 5 - 8 HIGH 408 4
(Based on 11 reviews)

I absolutely love the Computer School--to render it a schooling facility feels nearly inadequate, for it has such a wonderful community feel alongside the general high academic standard set for us students. I joined this year and couldn't have a higher overall opinion. The children are friendly in general, and the teachers are willing to work with you in order to allow you and your parents to understand whatever grade you may receive and not only how to raise it, but how to improve your overall understanding of the subject. It's marvelous, uplifting--searching for an appropriate enough adjective would be tedious and impossible, but believe me, if you're looking for a strong program with the ability to send any child into a substantial high school, then MS 245 (more commonly referred to as the Computer School) is the right place for you!

PRIVATE K - 8 HIGH 185 3

YKOM is a great school with fantastic teachers who are very warm and nurturing for secular and religious studies. In addition to a great education, children are taught how to be respectful to their elders as well as each other. My experience there was awesome, to bad I only realize it now that I am married with my own kids. Additionally, when I subsequently went to high school, I was far ahead of my peers.

Getting into collegiate is itself impossible, but if you get in, you must go. It was the most incredible experience for my son (he is off at yale now) and i wish i had another son so i could send him there. Collegiate has the best of the best, from music, athletics, art, and, of course, academics--and everything about the school screams 'opportunity!' best to take advantage of this incredible community before it is too late.

RODEPH SHOLOM SCHOOL
10 W 84TH ST
[Details]
PRIVATE K - 8 HIGH 685 4
(Based on 11 reviews)

Rodeph Sholom School is a truly special place. I was a parent at the school for 12 years until my last child graduated. It was an incredible experience, and my children will always be Rodeph Sholom students at heart. It's way more than a school, it's a home and a community that you can always run to. The teachers teach not only academics like at other schools, but life lessons, and how to be a good human being. I'm sad to say my children are disappointed with their new schools in comparison to Rodeph Sholom because of how amazing it was. I recommend it to any parent looking for a truly fantastic school.

This school is like anything else in life. If you work hard, you will have plenty of opportunities. If you don't, you will just fade. This principal is good, and has done a great job in providing the students that want to learn, the opportunity to succeed.

My two children graduated from this school. The Principal, most of the teachers, and the Guidance Counselor are great. I had children in both of the programs and they both excelled and attended a great middle school (Delta Honors). I just wish that the parents in the Renaissance Program were more involved.

The first day of school my son loved it. He cant wait to go everyday and he feels like a big boy learning and doing all sorts of activities in his pre-k class. Principals and teachers are super sweet and thinking of transferring my daughter to this school next year for her 1st grade class.

PS87 is a goldmine, a diamond in the rough, amidst $26,000 per year private schools in the neighborhood. The new principal is a vibrant and intelligent addition this year, 2003. Parental involvement is held up as a national example. And, its Arts In Action program is recognized nationwide. For K-5 your child's needs will be met.

WEST PREPARATORY ACADEMY
100 W 77TH ST
[Details]
PUBLIC 5 - 8 HIGH 110 1
(Based on 1 reviews)

My son was placed there after his 1st and 2nd choice middle did not select him. This school has no parent involvement. Our first parent association meeting consisted of 6 parent, which included my husband and I. What they are not going to tell you is that this school is moving Sept. 2011 to currently and undisclosed area in District 3. I removed my son and placed him elsewhere. I do diligently advised the school staff i.e. Principal, Asst. Principal, and especially the Parent Coord. who is rude and anti-parent. Today a DOE attendance person came to my home seeking my child since he was being marked absent and still on their attendance roll (16 days). The woman was astounded when she was told that we had informed all parties regarding my son transfer to the other school. This school is being set up for failure in my opinion.
